Vernier Station was built in 1857, at the same time as Geneva, Vernier-Meyrin Cargo, and Satigny Stations to develop the region’s commercial exports. It was inaugurated on 16 March 1858 when the Lyon - Geneva line was commissioned.
Between Meyrin and Vernier Stations, there is another station called Vernier-Meyrin Cargo station, intended for goods transport.
