Activities

Nice little hike accessible to the whole family. Leave from Groisy and visit the town and its monuments. This walk takes about 2 hours. A variety of landscapes to spend a pleasant time in the countryside. Beautiful view of the Salève foothills and the village of Villy le Bouveret. It’s a five-minute walk from the station.

For mountain bikers and hikers, you will find what you need. In winter, the Nordic ski area is very popular. In summer, it also offers many opportunities for walking and mountain biking on the historic trails.

The Glières plateau is not only a great place for hikes; it is full of history. A symbol of the Resistance in Haute-Savoie, it is both a place of remembrance and an exceptionally sensitive natural area. It was here that around 500 resistance fighters gathered in the winter of 1944 to receive parachute drops from the Allies.

Did you know ?

After Savoy was attached to France, the economic development of the region allowed the arrival of the railway in Groisy in 1884. The station was then home to the PLM (Paris-Lyon-Marseille) passenger and freight trains. It was named Groisy-Le Plot.

It changed its name in 1923.

The line was then electrified in 1955.
