Did you know ?
Marignier Station was opened on 1 June 1890 by Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM), when it opened the La Roche-sur-Foron to Cluses section.
In the Middle Ages, Marignier was called Marinicum and is said to have been created by a knight returning from the Crusades, which could explain the presence of the crescent moon on the town's coat of arms.
